MySQL "Error 1045, Acess denied for user. 'root@localhost' (using password: YES)", how can

Well, I'm setting up the MySQL configuration (wizard), and It's all fine until it gets to executing! It does all the steps, until it gets to the last step which is "Apply Security Settings". It stops and thinks when it gets to this step, then I get an error saying...
The security settings could not be applied.
Error number 1045.
Acess denied for user. 'root@localhost' (using password: YES)
How on earth do I fix this? I'm very new to this program and am only using it for a short time so if it's complicated, explain it in detail please! ;]
