What's the treatment for my goldfish eye problem?

demo 19 Dec 2008 01:18pm I know it's not Pop Eye... It hides behind the big rock that's at the back of the tank quite a bit. Can anybody help me with this? Here's an image of the eye: http://img167.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fish2ez1.jpg The white, puffy material is covering its eye (going around it). I've been putting some Melafix in the tank for a little while. |

demo 19 Dec 2008 01:33pm Hi I cant get to the photo , so not sure what the problem is although it sounds a bit like a fungal problem. most problems come from overpopulation and poor water quality, You need a filter and frequent water changes to help keep your fish healthy. Try the local library and find a book on fish disease. Good luck |

demo 19 Dec 2008 01:37pm when I was young twice my favourite aunt ( a head nurse ) and my uncle ( fire fighter captain ) invited me to spend the summer there. three young cousins and two super cool older cousins. had cars were never around but the oldest was my favourite like an idol ( I am a guy but still ) he was like a super movie star and super cool. he looked like Elvis presley type of person. well once he asked me to feed his fish while he was gone. he had about twenty different varieties of fish. well I over fed them and killed all the fish. bad news. good news I did not kill the snails. gold fish are from the carp family and can live anywhere, sloughs, culverts, canals, ponds which have no water coming in or out. if there is a natural body of water and carps and goldfish cannot live in it you have serious pollution problems. if you care that much about them and are rich then veterinarian. if you are poor clean the water and buy over the counter polysporin eye antibiotic and put lots in the water. this will not work if that is a malignate growth or fungi but that is what I would try. if worse comes to worse I have a goldfish recipe you are welcome to. I dn't know but I think that bothers aquarium people as well. rest assured though carp and gold fish are one tough species and you should be able to get them in fighting form easy enough.--- is it really my fault though that happened about thirty years ago but if an animal is so stupid it can eat itself to death does it really deserve to live. - what happens when they get lots of food in their natural environment, hey guys a smorgas borg here enough food to die for---- but I was sorry and my cousin did not kill me. talk about panic, I was going through the monty python dead parrot thing about a million times. they aren't dead they are sleeping, you should know fish sleep on the surface upside down. ouch. not one of my better days. the panic I was sure sweating that one---I could have used yahoo. q & a back then |
